Having grown up as a dancer, I was so excited to conduct a portrait session with Ginamarie, a ballerina with whom I became acquainted through a mutual friend. We met up at one of my absolute favorite places in Washington DC, Dumbarton Oaks (if you don’t know of this spot, it’s truly a hidden gem!) and experimented with different poses, styles, and outfits.
I loved working on this shoot because of how much my creativity was stretched – I have not danced since high school, so I combined memory and imagination to direct new poses and movements, and it was such a treat to collaborate with Ginamarie for more ideas throughout our time together. If you’ve been directed by me before, you know that I’m a big movement gal rather than still poses, so I had a blast directing someone who specializes in the art of movement. Ginamarie’s talent was a true pleasure to experience, and we were able to craft up such fun shots!
